Alarm Maintenance

Just like your car or boiler, your security system needs TLC to keep it in tip-top condition and doing it's job properly. Regular alarm maintenance doesn't just bring you peace of mind. It prevents breakdowns which compromise the safety you wanted in the first place. As well as that, they're inconvenient and often expensive!

Unlike a car or boiler service, having your home alarm looked after isn't a major hit to the pocket. In fact, it works out less than the cost of a monthly takeaway! So what do you get for the money?

Peace of mind for the price of a pizza...

During a service visit, our qualified engineer will:

  • Check with you on system status and any change of use
  • Check the installation is satisfactory
  • Inspect all the cabling and “flexibles”
  • Check the mains and standby power supply (including age of batteries)
  • Check that the system is fully operational
  • Record details of the visit in the log book
  • Check the operation of individual devices
  • Check and clean all detector lenses
  • Check the programming of system and zones
  • Check and sound all warning devices (including hold off)
  • Check signalling (including all codes to the ARC for monitored systems)
  • Provide service worksheet/checklist

An annual maintenance contract with Blake's also includes the following:

  • One service visit per year, or two if the system is monitored
  • 24-hour telephone back-up advisory service
  • 24-hour call out service with 4 hour maximum response time
  • Reduced rates for callouts
  • Replacement parts are only invoiced when required. So you don't pay extra on your maintenance for parts that don't need changing!

As a bonus, a maintenance contract may reduce your insurance premiums. It depends on your policy but it's always worth asking. The difference could be another pizza!

Staying safe without staying locked in

Some companies insist on a three year agreement to keep you locked in as a maintenance customer. The trouble is you can't tell if the service will stay at a good standard for that period. Or, in some cases, whether the firm will even be around that long!

Despite all that we still don't tie you down to a lengthy agreement. Our alarm maintenance contracts are for one year at a time. We don't force anyone to renew, we simply work hard and trust that you'll be happy enough to want to. Many Essex householders and businesses already do!
