How do door entry systems work?

The person requesting access presses a buzzer, you respond and let the person in or not, as appropriate. Many blocks of flats use an intercom system while others opt for video. This offers additional protection because you can see the person requesting entry without them seeing you. It’s like a modern version of the spy hole, just much safer.

How do automatic gates work?

It all depends… They can operate on a timer clock, via a keypad or remote fob. Like a car key fob, you press once, and the gate will open, then close. Alternatively, you can opt for a system that opens automatically called an exit loop. Most people opt for a fob or keypad system. How much will my door entry system and/or automatic gates cost?

Blake Fire & Security Systems take pride in installing only exceptionally high-quality products. BFT, Fermax and Paxton are our trusted partners. We don’t supply cheaper alternatives because we don’t want to keep coming back to fix a system when it goes wrong. You pay a little more for this equipment, but you can be sure it will serve you well for years to come and save you money in the long term.

How soon can you do the work?

We usually get the work done within a week. We do have busy periods but can usually manage a seven-day turnaround. We hold a lot of stock at our Southend HQ so usually have the equipment you need to hand. If not BFT are quick to deliver and we work closely with local supplier Fermax. So any extra equipment we need is available quickly.
