Access Control systems

Access control systems go way beyond the first line of defence for your business. These systems can be designed to solve all manner of problems you can think of and many more you can’t even imagine. Blake Fire & Security Systems' specialist engineers have many years of experience so can harness the flexibility offered by modern access control technology and tailor it to your individual needs.

For example, systems can be programmed to restrict access appropriately at different times of the day. As there are no keys, access rights can be cancelled instantly with a click of a button. Access control can be via cards, fobs or wristbands – cards can be used for identification purposes. Everything can be integrated with other security systems like your fire alarm and CCTV and provide roll call in an emergency, time of attendance and so much more.

Call us to discuss your requirements and we’ll design and install a system that is tailor-made for you. We only use quality equipment that will last for years to come and complies fully with regulations. As an NSI Gold approved company you can rest assured that your access control system will restrict access and keep your staff safe and the Responsible Person legal!

How much will my access control system cost?

Blake Fire & Security Systems only install high quality access control systems because we value reliability over false economy for two reasons.

  • Your system needs to be reliable.  If it develops faults, your security/safeguarding is put at risk.
  • We don’t want to keep coming back to a system when it goes wrong, as this increases the running cost to you.

We use good quality equipment so you can be sure it will save you money over the long-term and serve you well for years to come. The exact price for a system depends on your specific needs and requirements. Give us a call or click the green button below and a surveyor will guide you through the options available to you and provide a tailored quotation.

Net2 Entry is so easy to use. It's useful for Reception staff to be able to see who is trying to enter before letting them in. We have peace of mind that the children are safe and only authorised people are in the building at all times.

How can access control systems help with safeguarding in schools?

The most important way is by restricting entry to unauthorised individuals. A professionally designed access control system allows reception staff to control access to the school. Visitors and staff can be provided with a fob or card.

As required, this allows a member of staff to either:

  • grant access to visitors
  • control staff access to areas during certain time periods related to their work
  • restrict pupils from exiting areas during certain time periods

This level of control should go some distance to satisfying Ofsted over your safeguarding risks. We're a one stop shop for your school's security - you can learn more about the design and installation of a state of the art access control system in an Essex school in our case study.

Is it easy to remove someone’s access rights?

Yes, it’s very easy. Whatever the system of access – card, fob or wristband – access rights can be cancelled immediately, giving you greater control over your building. You don’t need to change loads of locks.

What about access control at different times of the day?

Your system is controlled via a networked computer that can apply all kinds of rules. So if you need varying levels of access to different personnel at different times of the day, your system can handle it. That’s useful to allow the cleaning team access to clean specific areas of the building during the night but deny them entry during the day.

How soon can you do the work?

Well, it does depend on the workload but we usually get the work done within a week. Although, we have sometimes been asked to start work the next day and can often oblige. This speedy turnaround is possible for three reasons.

  1. We carry a lot of the equipment we need back at our HQ in Southend, so no waiting for deliveries!
  2. If we don’t have the right equipment in stock we work closely with a local supplier in Basildon – Fermax – so we can get hold of your equipment quickly.
  3. Other suppliers, such as BFT offer very fast turnaround.
