Back in 2015 we installed the automated gates seen in the image below for Eastwood Primary School.
It wasn't a straightforward project, there were a number of unforeseen issues. Despite this, our experienced engineers, Matt and Ben, left a delighted headteacher with a safe, expertly installed, automated gate system.
Quite rightly, there are tough regulations concerning the installation of automated gates. Essentially, automatic gates are machinery and very dangerous if not correctly positioned and installed safely.
Instances of incorrectly installed automated gates injuring or even killing people are unfortunately more common than you'd expect. In a particularly distressing case a six year old girl was crushed to death by a gate that hadn't been installed correctly. The £50,000 fine for the company was of minimal significance compared to the heartbreak for the little girl's parents and family.
Eastwood's decision to choose Blake Fire & Security Systems to install their system was very wise, even if we say so ourselves. As a member of the Door and Hardware Federation (DHF) Powered Gate Group we’re approved to install automatic gates to Quality Assured standards of competence and customer service.
The gates enabled Eastwood Primary School's staff to leave the school car park without the inconvenience of physically unlocking and re-locking the gate each time. Also, it reduced the chances of someone forgetting to lock the gate after them and inadvertently allowing access to unwanted visitors. The school's security was greatly improved as a result.
I write to congratulate your staff, Matt and Ben, on the excellent job they did on the automation of the school gates. It has taken quite some time to come to fruition due to the complex nature of the project and I very much appreciated their help and advice on the best way forward when certain unforeseen issues arose.
