Summer means family day trips to the beach, or much needed retail therapy at the weekends.
But, in the rush to get out of the door and enjoy the sunshine, are you forgetting to lock your uPVC door properly?
As well as installing burglar alarms, CCTV and door entry systems in homes across Essex, Blake's mission is also to provide valuable (and often underestimated) security tips for homeowners.
Essex Police reported that it only takes 15 seconds for a burglar to break in to an improperly locked uPVC door!
Simple, yet effective, security tips for homeowners
As explained in the video above, it's not enough to simply pull up the handle on your uPVC door.
To fully engage the locks, you must pull the handle up and keep it up while you turn the key.
Sgt. Allen Burridge of the Basildon Community Policing Team begs all homeowners to take the time to lock their uPVC front door properly, whether they are:
- popping out for 5 minutes
- going upstairs to bed
- going on holiday
Would your home beat the burglar?
Sadly, many homes are burgled because their owners didn't take a few extra moments to make them less inviting to criminals.
