A Colchester secondary school wanted more control over who was on site at any one time. Their existing access control system did not cover all their doors. This meant issues with:
EXTENDING AN EXISTING ACCESS CONTROL SYSTEM
The site manager asked us to provide a quotation to extend the existing Paxton Net 2 system.
He wanted the access control system to cover some more doors at the back of the school, including a fire exit door.
We installed access control on two extra doors within the school.
We supplied and installed:
- access control unit (ACU) and power supply (PSU),
- architectural L & Z brackets,
- proximity card readers,
- external 500kg maglocks,
- green break glass units (mounted at high level with a cover),
- 12-volt 7amp batteries and
- 2 fire alarm interface units
As part of these works, we had to move the existing intruder alarm contacts.
ONLY QUALIFIED PERSONNEL...
Blake's doesn't allow uncertified personnel to carry out work they are not qualified for.
Installing an unswitched spur to allow the new PSU to operate was not a job for the Access Control team. But our one-stop shop means the experts in our Electrical Department can step in.
At the end of the job, we linked the existing access control units into the hall area for data and power.
Then we tested and commissioned the system to ensure everything was working correctly.
WHAT THE SCHOOL SAID ABOUT THEIR EXTENDED SYSTEM
The client was very pleased with the works carried out. And we are now working on some more projects for them, as well as maintaining their access control system.
