Southend's favourite amusement park, Adventure Island, was in need of a new and improved CCTV system. Here's how Blake's got better quality for less cost!
Their old system was outdated and wasn't capturing high definition footage which is essential for facial recognition in the event of a crime.
Imagine this: A group of hooded figures break in and vandalise a ride after hours but, as they leave, they walk straight past a security camera that captures their faces. The security team scramble through the footage to find nothing more than a blurry blob of pixels. The footage is useless and the group is unidentifiable!
So, to stop something like that happening, a new security system was critical!
But, with 9 acres of land, it was hard to know where to start! The system had to cover a large area and capture multiple different rides and attractions. On top of this, the park was responsible for the safety of thousands of visitors each year. The client required a reliable, robust system that could withstand the windy, seaside weather and protect staff and visitors for years to come.
Our CCTV expert, Richard Crane, designed a tailored system that incorporated the features needed to keep the park safe all year round!

As NSI Gold accredited CCTV experts, Blake's are duty bound to design, install and offer maintenance for the highest quality security products on the market. The on-site security team’s favoured camera provider, Hanwha Techwin, was a great choice for the project. They supplied digital cameras with:
Installed in the main areas of the park to capture footage from all angles. This allows staff to see visitor behaviour at multiple attractions from one camera.
Replaced the superfluous, expensive 360° cameras where appropriate. Allowing a more concentrated resolution and improved image.
Several suitably IP rated cameras with infrared technology were installed. Combating the challenges of extreme seaside conditions while providing 24/7 protection in a busy urban area.
These specialist cameras were hand chosen and installed to meet the specific needs of Adventure Island amusement park.
Adventure Island's security team had planned to install 360-degree cameras around the majority of the park, however, Blake's CCTV expert discovered that this would be a waste of money and time.
Our expert identified that 360-degree cameras would reduce coverage and increase cost!
180-degrees of the view would have been obstructed by a wall in some cases, meaning you'd only get half of what you paid for! Dome cameras were fitted instead and covered the same area of the park. A cheaper and better quality solution!
“We considered a number of manufacturers that offer 360 degree cameras but in terms of price and performance we decided to recommend that they be sourced from Hanwha Techwin Europe, along with the other required cameras and recording device.”
