In one of our latest projects, we've been installing a commercial CCTV system in three Balmoral Estate Tower Blocks in Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex.
The Estate was infamous last year for the tragic loss of a pregnant woman, killed in a fire which started on the 9th floor of Grampian Flats.
We are working alongside the Electrical division of our parent company, Blake Contractors Ltd under the management of South Essex Homes and the work has been featured in a local Southend paper as well as on the Southend Borough Council website.
The Executive Councilor For Housing, Mark Flewitt, said: "We are all very aware of the May 2016 fire that tragically took the life of Khabi Abrey and her unborn child. Since that day, officers from South Essex Homes and I have met with many of her friends and family and agreed that we would look at improved security measures at the block entrances."
A Southend Council spokesman said the new camera installations are aimed to reassure residents in the towers and provide additional protection for the block entrance areas.
The Brecon, Blackdown and Grampian blocks are receiving 5 cameras each, covering both ground floor and basement level entrances and will be completed by the end of the month.
Grampian will also have an additional camera in the car park to catch any anti-social behaviour and flytipping being undertaken.
