We received a request from the local housing association on behalf of an apartment block in Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex. They needed assistance with the installation of a new CCTV system.
CONSULTATION AND EVALUATION OF THE RESIDENT’S CONCERNS
Through the consultation and evaluation process, our engineers learned that several vulnerable residents felt insecure. There was an increase of antisocial behaviour outside the building. As a result, some vulnerable residents were nervous about their safety.
The housing association requested Blake’s to provide a quote for an HD CCTV system for the ground floor lobby and entrance area. The quote had to be for a fully compliant system. It also needed to include an ongoing annual maintenance contract. The housing association wanted to ensure the CCTV system would perform correctly throughout the year. And for many years to follow.
FINDING THE RIGHT SOLUTION
Blake's installed a CCTV system with 4 HD IP (high definition, internet protocol) cameras. HD IP cameras ensure the footage captured is high quality. And can be transferred or sent via a Wi-Fi or a Lan, internet connection.
Ensuring the system was HD and IP means the footage is clear and the detail sharp. Because night-time images were critical; the cameras were equipped with an automatic infra-red switch for night-time clarity.
ENHANCED FEATURES OF THE NEWLY INSTALLED CCTV SYSTEM
Steel conduits were used to house all cables as an anti-tampering measure. An 8 channel NVR, network video recorder, was installed in a wall mounted cabinet under the stairs in the apartment block. The 8 channel NVR ensured the footage from the 4 cameras was recorded 24 hours a day for a maximum of 31 days.
The recorded footage can be viewed on a screen connected to the wall unit or remotely via a mobile phone. Allows the footage to be viewed at any time when nobody is onsite.
SETUP FINALISED ONCE TESTING AND TRAINING WAS COMPLETED
The CCTV system was put through its paces in the testing process. Once the installation engineer was happy, the system was ready for use and in depth training was given to all users.
HOW CCTV CAMERAS IMPROVE LIVES
The CCTV system has been invaluable for monitoring activity at the apartment block. All reported disturbances have been backed up with valuable video footage. Making the apartment block a much less attractive target for criminals and vandals. Easing the concerns of residents
