The manager at a local gym in Southend-on-Sea approached us about their emergency exit doors.
During our site survey, we found that two of the wooden emergency exit doors had reached the end of their life.
They were external doors and exposed to the elements. The effects of the wind and rain had begun to compromise the safety and security of the gym's customers. So these doors needed to be replaced.
WOODEN EMERGENCY EXIT DOORS: THE BEST REPLACEMENT?
The gym’s owner had a couple of questions about the replacement doors:
Could they last longer than the existing wooden type?
And could the fire doors be more secure?
To answer both these issues, we recommended the installation of metal security doors.
We replaced the two existing rotten wooden doors with new metal fire exit doors and frames. These were fitted to ensure they were compliant.
The doors come pre-finished and have a wide range of colours to choose from.
Our client chose the green to replace both the green and blue doors at the gym.

These works were carried out within the day, keeping disruption to a minimum.
Since then, we’ve also replaced the emergency exit doors on the unit next door.
