The Facilities Manager for a special education school in Colchester, Essex, approached us.
They are an existing customer. We already provide annual maintenance and monitoring. But they wanted to upgrade the School's existing old intruder alarm system.
STOPPING FALSE ALARMS AT THE SCHOOL
There had been persistent false alarms from the existing old system. After many call outs to investigate, it was clear that the system was not reliable. And in dire need of an upgrade.
But the facilities management team wanted more. The old system did not cover the whole school.
So we quoted to install a new intruder alarm system.
It would be fully compliant and provide full coverage across the school.
INSTALLING A NEW INTRUDER ALARM
We upgraded the existing control panel to a new Texecom 640 and added three keypads.
We also added more sensors to expand the system further across the school. This will give them more coverage and increase the security.
When the work was complete, the new system was fully reprogrammed and commissioned.

As there was an existing intruder alarm system on site, they had drawings and floor plans of the school. These showed the current locations of the PIRs for the intruder alarm etc.
These locations changed and more were added following our upgrade. So we provided ‘as fitted drawings’ to ensure the school had accurate plans on file.

The customer was very pleased with the works carried out. Since the system upgrade, they are no longer getting false alarms.
