"It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!"
There's lots to look forward to this festive season:
But, aside from your children, who else is excited about the presents you buy for your family?
The Grinch - AKA the opportunist Christmas burglar!
Homeowners are often so caught up in the magic of Christmas that they make this critical home security mistake - putting their family home at the top of a burglar's wish list...
He knows when you are sleeping... he knows when you're awake...?
Well, perhaps not, but your neighbourhood burglar quickly and easily work out what you got for Christmas.
The biggest mistake homeowners make on Boxing Day is collecting the packaging from the opened presents, breaking it down and dumping it next to the bin bags at the front of the house - in plain sight.
Think about it - by doing so you are:
First, you should consider keeping important packaging in case you later discover your items are faulty and need exchanging - most boxes have warranty information on them!
Second, if you are certain that you want to discard the packaging, break the boxes down, bag them up and only put them outside with the rest of your rubbish on collection day!
It's not uncommon for robbers to tear open your black sacks and rummage for important letters and other confidential information to give them clues about what's inside your house. They know many homeowners don't own shredding machines and will throw their confidential mail straight in the bin once it has been read!
